CCD Digital Cameras

CCD Cameras - the benchmark for digital photomicrography

If you are evaluating different kinds of digital cameras to use with a microscope, you can't go wrong with choosing one that uses a CCD sensor. These cameras will not only generate some of the highest resolution images possible, but they will also perform well at high magnifications where illumination is low. The sensors also have a higher dynamic range, which allows for better exposure levels on samples that have regions of both high and low light reflection.

While Nikon has virtually cornered this market by incorporating their digital SLR line into their DS-series microscope cameras, other brand-name digital camera options also exist for personalized applications.
